27/01/10

AGM was held on January 24,Chairman Vincent Casey presided.  In a wide ranging address to the large attendance he stated that it was a very successful year for the club on all fronts but especially on the playing fields, he congratulated the Seniors four in a row winning O’Donoghue Cup side. The Ladies on winning Kerry Co. Championship and reaching Munster final and praised the great strides that’s been made in hurling within the club. He had a special word of praise for all the successful teams in the club in 2009.

He made special mention of the coaching that is ongoing in the Juvenile section, underage hurling and girls football and urged a greater involvement from parents and volunteers.

He thanked all team managements and committees for their huge effort. He urged all club members to get behind any fund raisers for a club of Dr. Crokes size to survive and progress large sums of money has to be generated and in the current economic climate it is proving to be difficult.

He thanked the outgoing officers Matt O’Neill and Seamus O’Doherty for their contribution, his fellow officers for their commitment in the running of the club. He had special praise for John C. O`Shea for innovation of the  screening live games on the internet. The first club in the country to pioneer such a move, which was greatly appreciated by our ex-pats. He congratulated Colm Cooper on winning another All Ireland and the other players who wore the Kerry Jersey with pride in various grades. He sympathised with all those who suffered bereavement during the year. In conclusion he looked forward to the year ahead and hoped we continue in the positive frame that is now engulfing the Club.

Hon. Sec.  Aine McMahon in a detailed and comprehensive booklet outlined all activities that occurred during the year. She stated that the “outstanding memory of 2009 was unfortunately the heartbreak felt when the final whistle was blown on County final day, but a club awash with talented players, dedicated and enthusiastic mentors, hard working officers and committee members and loyal supporters it is onwards and upwards for 2010”.

Joint Treasurers.  Moss Harmon & John Lenihan were complimented on producing a very detailed financial report. In the age we are now living in it takes a staggering amount of money to run a club of the size of Dr. Crokes.
