Congratulations to U14 girls on winning Co. League Div. 2 Plate
defeating Firies on a 5 - 08 to 2 - 05 score line. Playing a wonderful
brand of football they were in control from the beginning. well done to

U-14 Football
Our U-14 team suffered their first defeat in the East Kerry League to
Spa Last Wednesday night. Spa took the game to our lads from the very
start and we could never get a period of dominance during the game. We
kept in touch for the first 15 minutes and trailed by 4 points to 2
points. Spa then took control and increased their lead to 1-8 to 0-3 at
half-time. We showed an improvement in the second half but could make no
impression on the scoreboard. Despite the best efforts of Joseph Keogh
who was outstanding at full-back Spa were able to add points to their
score and ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 1-15 to 0-6.
Five of our players were on the East Kerry U-14 District Board team
that defeated St Brendan’s 4-13 to 3-9 in the County Championship
quarter final on Monday night. Alex O’Sullivan scored 3 goals, Keith
O’Leary scored 1-5, Eoin Clifton was dominant in midfield and Kieran
Ward was excellent at corner back. PJ Lawlor was a substitute.

U-12 Football
Team 1 suffered a defeat to a very strong Castleisland team last
Saturday night. Castleisland led by 1-5 to 0-2 at half-time and despite
the best efforts of our lads the final score was 2-14 to 1-7.
Team 2 were away to Glenbeigh/Glencar on Sunday night and scored a
feast of goals in a 9-8 to 2-12 victory.

The last
game in round 1 of Group A against Kilcummin was cut short due to an
injury to a Kilcummin player. The Crokes wish a speedy recovery to Gary
O'Leary. Unfortunately we were trailing at the time of the stoppage.
The
regrouping stage of the county league is due to commence this weekend.
No fixtures were available at the time of going to print.

The
final game before the semi-final stage is against Duagh, who are
also unbeaten. This promises to be a very tough match and both
teams will be anxious to maintain a perfect record.

UNDER 12 HURLERS
The conditions were very difficult
on Friday when the Dr Crokes hurlers travelled to Killorglin, trying to keep
their perfect record in this year’s county league. The driving rain was not
going to dampen these boys enthusiasm for the game and the victory.
Alex Goggins started like a man
possessed. He followed every ball that was sent up to the forward line.
His efforts soon paid off when he grabbed the first score a rasper of a
goal. John Ivory was soon to follow when he won a goalmouth scuffle to find
the back of the net. Two goals in quick succession from Cillian Fitzgerald,
who was dominant as this stage of the game, seem to put the Crokes boys in
the driving seat. However, the Killorglin boys fought back and got on top
during the second quarter of the game. A point from a free was soon
followed up with a goal. While all this scoring was going on Matthew
Moynihan and Anthony Keogh (captain) were proving too much to handle in
mid-field. Senan Lavery, Jonathan Cleary and Brian Murphy were on top of
their opponents. At half-time the score stood at 4-0 to 1-1 in Crokes
favour.
Strong words during the break sent
the Dr Crokes team out with fire in their bellies. Indeed, their
performance improved dramatically. Anthony Cronin seemed to be involved in
everything and took a brace of scores. First, he crashed the sliothar to
the back of the net and followed this with a cracking point. Anthony
finished off this flurry with another well taken goal. John Ivory snatched
another goal, his second for the evening. Then Cian Ó Lionárd took a
long-range point on his ciotóg. Aodán Burns was chasing everything around
the middle of the pitch to win a lot of possession for the Crokes team,
which he turned into valuable ammunition for the forwards to use. Gearóid
Coughlan was a tower of strength in the back line a drove out many a
Killorglin attack.
John Ivory completed his hat-trick
with another goal. Dave O’Connor was the next to score. He drilled a great
shot past the keeper for another goal. Graham Fleming followed with a
looping ball over the keeper’s head to score another brilliant goal.
Captain, Anthony Keogh added to his tally with another goal. Gavin O’Shea
was playing well all night. At one stage he pinned the Killorglin back line
on their end-line. When they eventually got room to take a swing at the
ball, Gavin was there with a tremendous and brave block. He found himself
out on the wing at an acute angle to the goal. However, he slotted the ball
between the uprights to gain a point for the Crokes. Lawrence Byrnes had
another brilliant game and was a safe pair of hands when the ball came in
his direction. Christopher Buckley worked hard in the forwards and was
unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. If Alex Goggins started the
night’s scoring, he finished it also with another great goal. The game over
and Dr Crokes banked another win with a score of 12-3 to 1-1.
Next week these hurlers will meet
Duagh, who are also unbeaten in this year’s competition. While both teams
have already qualified for the semi-finals, each will want to maintain their
unbeaten record.

UNDER 12 HURLERS
The trip to Kilgarvan was always
going to be a defining game for this Dr Crokes under 12 team. Kilgarvan
would be looking for revenge for their defeat in the Division 4 final last
year. That game went to two periods of extra time to decide the outcome.
However, this time Kilgarvan had the home advantage. A big question was
posed to these young hurlers.
Dr Crokes had most of the opening
play. The sliothar hit the upright and skimmed just wide on a number of
accessions. Would these near misses be regretted later on? At last, Aodán
Burns slotted over a well-taken point. But, a lapse in concentration let
the Kilgarvan forwards through unchallenged and they took full advantage to
score a goal. Cillian Fitzgerald pounced on a loose ball and hit it
goalwards, beat the goalkeeper only to see it rebound off the upright.
Aodán Burns banged over another point to reduce the Crokes deficit to one
point. Kilgarvan scored a point of their own and really put it up to the
Crokes boys. Then a free was awarded out on the left wing, just inside the
halfway line. Aodán Burns set himself up to take a pot for another point.
However, Anthony Keogh, captain and man of the match, found space in front
of goal and about twenty yards out. He called for the ball and Aodán
quickly snapped the ball to him. He grabbed the ball turned and sent a
torpedo that found the back of the Kilgarvan net. Crokes were ahead for the
first time by the narrowest margin 1-2 to 1-1 and the half-time whistle
went. Senan Lavery, Paul Clifford and Cian Ó Lionárd were stalwarts in the
Crokes defence, while up front, Niall O’Riordan, Anthony Cronin and Gavin
O’Shea were playing well.
Crokes knew that they would have to
play better in the second half if they were to continued undefeated in this
year’s county league. Both teams started well and played some great
hurling, although, the scores just would not come. Then Gavin O’Shea, who
has been a regular on the score sheet opened the second half scoring with a
cracking goal. Anthony Cronin blasted a point over in real style.
Meanwhile, Graham Fleming was having a stormer in goal. He cleared several
shots on goal and his puck-outs gained great distance for the Crokes.
Cillian Fitzgerald completed the day’s scoring with another well-taken
point. Lawrence Byrnes, as usual, scooped up everything that came his way
and drove back down the field. He pulled a lot of ball out of the air and
shows great potential. Brian Murphy was a revelation on the night and
cleared a lot dangerous Kilgarvan attacks. He was ably assisted by Matthew
Moynihan. Up front Alex Goggins, John Ivory, Chris Buckley and Dave
O’Connor played some stylish hurling.Foireann:

U-12 GIRLS WIN COUNTY BLITZ:
Our u-12 girls had their first outing on Sunday last at the county blitz in
rahillys pitch in Tralee.Winning their three group games well, against
Kilcummin,Abbeydorney and Firies they played Duagh in the semi-final.With
all the team and subs playing well, they comfortly beat Duagh, 4-4 to 5
points. This win set them up to meet Na Gaeil in the final. Given a ten
minute break the girls were ready for battle again. This was the toughest
game of the day.Starting in goal with Laura Moloney pulling off those great
saves that we are used to seeing now,the full back line of Anna Kerrisk,
Emma Cronin and Lauren o Sullivan providing a solid defence as they had
through the day. The half backs,Aisling Brennan and Trisha Murphy clearing
every ball and centre-back Karena oLeary playing her captain role to the
full as she fought for and won every ball that came her way.The midfield
pairing of Megan Buckley and Rheanne o Shea were a joy to watch as they
powered their way up-field,some fine passing moves between them. The
half-forward line of Arianne kennedy,Amy Donovan and Ellen Buckley worked
great together and gave great ball into the full-forward line.There we had
two fiery red-heads,Chloe Doherty and Jessica Edwards, constantly on the go,
fighting tooth and nail for everything with Shannen Doherty playing well in
the corner. All the subs when brought on, played great.Subs: Laura
Kelly,Valerie Ashe,Cathy Kissane,Zoe oSullivan,Tara oShea,and Samantha
Marcus. Leading by a point at half-time we held on to win the game 1-3 to 3
points. It was a great end to the day when Karena o Leary (captain) accepted
the plaque on behalf of her team. Well done to trainer Paula mcElligott and
the girls.

Dr Crokes 4-11, Rathmore 2-13.
The U-14 team had a tremendous win over
Rathmore in Rd 1 of the East Kerry league played at Lewis Rd. The Crokes
led at half-time on a score of 3-6 to 0-8. Rathmore applied the pressure
in the second-half in a bid to gain the win but the Crokes were in a
determined mood on the night. Every member of the team played his part
in the victory.
Dr Crokes 5-9, Currow 2-7.
The team continued on their winning way with
a fine win away to Currow on Monday night. The ability to score goals
again proved decisive and after some great football we led by 4-3 to 0-5
at half-time. The lads had to withstand a spirited fightback by Currow
in the second half but again they stood firm. James Barry was again
outstanding in goal and Chris Brady had a tremendous game.

Rd 4 County League
Dr Crokes 3-5, Kerins O'Rahilly's 4-2.
The U-12 team 1 maintained their unbeaten
run by playing out a draw with Kerins O'Rahilly's. The goals on the
night were scored by Derek Maye, Anthony Cronin and Will Horan.
Team 2 also ended level with Firies in their
Rd 4 game.
This Friday, the Crokes hurlers travel to
Killorglin hoping to continue their winning ways.

UNDER 12 HURLING REPORT
Dr.
Crokes v Rathmore (played May 13th)
A third victory on the run and the Crokes boys are showing
great form in the county league. The opposition last week was Rathmore. Crokes
got off to a slow start. However, a well-taken point by Cian Ó Lionárd, started
an avalanche of scores. Cillian Fitzgerald pounced on an accurate pass from
Gavin O’Shea to slot the ball to the back of the Rathmore goal. Dave O’Connor
and Gavin O’Shea swung on a loose ball and hit the ball at the same time to
rattle the net for a second time. Next on the score-sheet was Aodán Burns, who
added another goal to the Crokes tally. In the closing minutes of the first
half, Dave O’Connor hammered home another goal, which was followed by a
long-range strike from Cian Ó Lionárd that dipped over the Rathmore goalkeeper’s
head to end up in the back of the net. This gave Crokes a total of five goals
and one point and Rathmore were kept scoreless due to sterling work in the backs
by Paul Clifford, who is improving with every match and Jonathan Cleary, who
played his best hurling on the night.
Rathmore came out strong in the second
half and got a quick goal. This sparked the Crokes team back into action. It
was not long before Anthony Cronin blasted the sliothar high over the bar for a
point and followed up with a goal. Gavin O’Shea was in scoring form and grabbed
another goal. Crokes scored a brace of points in quick succession, two by Aodán
Burns and one by Anthony Keogh. Rathmore got a point themselves before Graham
Fleming finished the scoring with a goal. The final score was 8-5 to 1-1 in
Crokes favour. Matthew Moynihan played well in mid-field and as usual,
Lawerence Byrnes and Kieran O’Donnell had good games in the backs.
This Saturday we meet Kilgarvan away.
This will be the toughest opposition that the Crokes boys will meet this year.
They will be out to avenge their defeat in last year’s final. It will take top
performance from the full panel to keep this year’s unbeaten run intact.

The U-12 team 1
travelled to Listowel on Monday night to play
Emmets. A great first half performance saw the
Crokes leading at half-time by 4-8 to 1-2. The
Crokes opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with
a point from Michael Quirke and this was
followed by a goal from Bryan O'Shea.Listowel
were getting back into the game but the Crokes
lads responded with goals from Will Horan (2)
and Michael Quirke. The Crokes continued to
dominate in the second half and finished
comfortable winners on a score of 6-12 to 2-3.

UNDER 12 HURLING
GAME VERSUS CROTTA, 6 MAY 2005
The under 12
hurlers put in another excellent display of hurling
in their second game of the county league. The
outcome was another decisive victory, this time
against Crotta O’Neills and the margin 8-4 to 0-1.
First on the
score-sheet was Aodán Burns who banged over an
excellent point from out the field. Crotta came
back to level scores with a well-taken 65. After
that it was all Dr Crokes. Aodán Burns rattled the
net with a goal, which was followed by a marvellous
goal by Niall O’Riordan, who played an excellent
game. Anthony Cronin pulled off a cheeky goal
sending in a daisy-cutter, which rattled the side
netting just inside the post. Though playing
against a strong breeze, the Crokes boys were in
charge. The backs were on top throughout, with
Senan Lavery, Cian Ó Lionárd and Kieran O’Donnell
keeping their opposite numbers under wraps. Paul
Clifford played some of his best hurling throughout
this game. Captain, Anthony Keogh and Brian O’Shea
were in command at mid-field. The first half was
wrapped up, with a fantastic goal by hard-working
Cillian Fitzgerald.
The second
half was as fruitful as the first, with the Dr Cokes
boys on top all over the pitch. Anthony Cronin was
first off the mark with another well taken goal.
This was followed by a goal from Cillian Fitzgerald,
who worked hard all night. Aodán Burns was back on
the scoreboard with another point from midfield.
Lawrence Byrnes received an injury at this stage of
the game and had to come off, having put in a “man
of the match” performance. In the back line
Jonathan Cleary and Alex Goggins were dominant and
kept their opponents under wraps. Brian Murphy was
playing skilful hurling in the forward line. Dave
O’Connor, playing in the backs made a journey
forward and was rewarded by a great goal. A
front-line combination of Gavin O’Shea and John
Ivory worked very well together and picked up where
they left off in the last game against Austin
Stacks. However, this time their hard work paid
off. First, Gavin made the score of the night.
Pushing out to the sideline he won a battle for the
ball, sidestepped his marker a slotted a sweet ball
from an acute angle over the bar. John Ivory
battled hard to win ball in front of goal and
rattled the back of the net with a mighty shot. In
between these scores, captain Anthony Keogh,
dominated in midfield, shot over a long-range
point. Matthew Moynihan in goal had a solid game
and allowed nothing past his goal. He provided a
great service of ball from his puck-outs
This was
another great result, which keeps Dr Crokes to the
fore of the league. Next up is a trip to Rathmore
for our first away game this Friday. The bus will
leave at 6.00pm sharp. Rathmore have had good
results in their recent games and will provide
another good test for the Crokes lads. However,
this group of hurlers should be confident after a
great start to the season. Training continues on

U16 Win East Kerry Championship
Div 1
Dr Crokes 4-21,
Rathmore 1-3.
Our U-16 team had a
very easy victory over Rathmore in the East
Kerry Championship final. This win completed a
five in a row for the club at this grade. The
result of this game was never in doubt as the
Crokes were in control right from the throw-in.
Despite shooting over a dozen wides in the first
half the team led by 1-12 to 0-1 at half time.
The highlights of the first half were provided
by Johnny Buckley, Jamie Doolan, Daithi
Casey and TJ Cronin who kicked some fine points.
Rory Mangan stroked a 45m free over the bar with
the greatest of ease. The goal in the first half
was finished to the net expertly by Shane
O'Neill.
The Crokes continued
to dominate right through the second half with
John Bartlett and Johnny Buckley dominating
mid-field and Philip O'Connor gave a fine
exhibition of high fielding at centre forward.
The half back line of Pat Fuller, Jonathon
Clarke and Donal Cronin was outstanding
throughout. Michael McMahon led the full back
line very well and he made a few of his
meandering runs out of defence in the second
half. Both Chris Egan and David "Buddy" O'Leary
were calmness personified in the corner back
positions. David Neeson had a quiet evenings
work in goal but he maintained his concentration
throughout.
The highlight of the
evening came with the introduction of Steven
Brosnan. After completing a vigorous warm up
routine he informed the selectors that he was
ready to enter the game. Yes, he blessed himself
before entering the game and he got a tremendous
ovation from the crowd. Nobody could have
foreseen what was to happen in the next 5
minutes. Steven cracked a rasper of a penalty of
the crossbar with the Rathmore keeper gone the
wrong way, he coolly slotted over a 21m free and
as the game drew to a close he smashed the ball
into the Rathmore net for the final score of the
game.

Kerry Semi-final : Dr Crokes V Spa
Dr. Crokes qualified
for the final of East Kerry by defeating Spa by
3.15 - 3-6.
It was a nip and
tuck in the first half but when John Bartlett
and Johnny Buckley took over at mid-field Crokes
were always in control. Goals by Jamie Doolan,
John Bartlett, and Rory Mangan sealed the issue.
Pick of the backs
were Donal Cronin and Chris Egan. Of course our
super-sub Stephen Brosnan once again scored a
great point.
Final v Rathmore on
Wednesday 04 May at 730.pm in the Fitzgerald
Stadium.
We entered two teams
into the U-16 7 a-side blitz
which was played in Fossa and Beaufort. The team
based in Beaufort emerged as outright winners. They
defeated Laune Rangers in the final by 3-6 to 1-7.

J Doolan, K Ward.

A Stacks 2-2. Team 1 maintained a 100% record in the
county league with a great victory over Stacks at
Lewis Rd. The half time score was Dr Crokes 1-5 A
Stacks 1-1.
Team 2. Dr Crokes 5-4,
Churchill 2-4. This was a great victory by these
lads. It was a much improved performance from their
first game. Every member of the team contributed to
the win and they played the game at a high tempo
throughout. Half-time score Dr Crokes 3-2, Churchill
0-3.

Our U-14 team had another great win in the county league
and just missed out on qualification for the Div 1
semi-finals. This was a great team performance and
they played some fantastic football throughout. We led
by 2-5 to 0-3 at half-time but were rocked by a quick
goal and a point from Dingle within a minute of the
restart. The team showed great character and responded
with two quick goals and from then on the result was
never in doubt. Alex O'Sullivan hit three goals, Keith
O'Leary and Chris Brady were always a menace to Dingle
and Timmy O'Donoghue led the forwards very well. The
backs were outstanding once again with Sean Coppinger,
Kieran Ward and Keith Buckley prominent.
The team competed very well
in Feile on Saturday but lost their three games by very
narrow margins.

Dr Crokes
retained the East Kerry League title with a
convincing win over Spa on Wednesday night.
With Philip O'Connor in great form in
mid-field the forwards got a plentiful
supply of ball. Jamie Doolan was in terrific
form and scored 2-5. The team has qualified
for the semi-final of the championship and
will play the winners of Spa/Kenmare on
Wednesday 27 April venue is Spa/Kenmare.

Our U-14 team
had an emphatic win over Beaufort in Rd 4 of
the county league. After narrow defeats to
Beale and Ballymac it was good to see the
team continue to improve and gain their
first win. Once the team settled the result
was never in doubt and they led by 3-5 to
0-5 at half-time. Strong performances from
Cian Buckley (3-1), Alex O'Sullivan (2-4)
and Keith O'Leary in the forwards paved the
way for the victory. James Barry was again
outstanding in goal and he was well assisted
by Joseph Keogh, Conor O'Neill and Frank
Lavery in the backs.
Next game is at
home to Dingle on Monday 25 April at 7.30pm.
Feile Peil na
nOg will take place on Saturday 23 April in
Caherselee, Tralee commencing at 11.am.
The under 12 hurlers got their 2005 campaign off
to a great start with a convincing win over
Austin Stacks. A score line of 3-4 to 0-4 shows
the dominance that the Crokes boys had. Aodán
Burns was in great form scoring a total of 2-1,
with Alex Goggins adding another goal and Niall
O’Riordan, Bryan O’Shea and Matthew Moynihan
each scoring a point.
The backs were
always in command. Lawrence Byrnes, Cian Ó
Lionard, Kieran O’Donnell and Senan Lavery
all had brilliant games. Captain Anthony
Keogh was strongest in midfield, while John
Ivory and Gavin O’Shea showed how much they
have improved from last year.
The next game
for the Under 12 team is at home to Crotta
on Friday 20th April at 7.00pm.
In the meantime, training continues every
Wednesday and Friday 6.00 to 7.00

Dr Crokes 2-9,
Ballymac 4-7.This was a very good
performance by our lads and for the second
week in a row were unlucky to have tasted
defeat. We started the game very well and
helped by a goal and a point from Cian
Buckley we were leading at half time by 1-5
to 0-2. Ballymac came out strong in the
second half and the game flowed from end to
end. They say goals win games and Ballymac
scored four in the second half this was the
deciding factor. Overall we were delighted
with the performance and every player played
his part. Frank Lavery and Joseph Keogh
played well in the full back line. Kieran
Ward was back to his best form. Keith
Buckley is improving with every game and was
outstanding at wing back. Cian O'Neill
(1-2), Keith O'Leary and Timmy O'Donoghue
impressed in the forward line.
Coaching for
boys and girls U-6, U-8 and U-10 continues
on Saturday mornings from 10.30.am to noon.
The club held a very successful coaching
camp during the Easter break with up to 100
kids attending. A special thanks to all our
coaches who gave of their free time for the
week.

East Kerry. Crokes led at half time by 0-8
to 0-3. Goals in the second half by Rory
Mangan, Jamie Doolan and Pat Fuller settled
the issue for the Crokes. Best on the night
were David Neeson, Fionn Fitzgerald,David
O'Leary, Michael McMahon, Rory Mangan.
Round 2. Dr
Crokes 2-6, Beale 2-9. This was a much
better performance by the team this week.
Some poor shooting at the end of both halves
proved very costly. Score at half time Dr
Crokes 1-5, Beale 1-3. Robert Watson and
Chris Brady scored the goals. Best on the
night were our two goalscorers, Keith
Buckley, Eoin Clifton and Alex O'Sullivan.

Saturday morning training
for boys and girls U-6, U-8 and U-10 teams will commence
on this Saturday 12 March from 1030.am to 12noon.
Registration will take place on the day and new members

U-14 team.
The U-14 team played in the
Nemo Rangers blitz last weekend and emerged as winners
of the plate competition after a penalty shoot out
victory over the host club. The final was a fabulous
game of football played in a very sporting manner with a
final score of Dr Crokes 4-9, Nemo Rangers 2-15. Steven
O'Brien presented the winners shield to Timmy O'Donoghue
our captain for the blitz. Heroes of the penalty shoot
out were goalkeeper Cian Buckley and goal scorers Alex
O'Sullivan and Cian O'Neill who held his nerve to score
in sudden death. Training for U-14 at 6.pm on Friday.
U-13
St Nicks of Cork will play
our U-13 team on Sunday 13 March at 1 o clock. Players
are asked to be at the clubhouse at 1230.pm

is on Wednesday afternoon from 4.pm to 5.pm.
Medal Presentation 2004.
We held a very successful
medal presentation on Sunday evening. Medals were
presented to our U-12 hurlers, U-12 and U-14 girls,
U-14, U-15 and U-16 boys (East Kerry Champions). Medals
were also presented to the boys and girls who
represented the club in Scor na nOg. Thanks to Eoin
Brosnan Kerry Senior footballer and to Kerry Senior
ladies footballers Katie Gleeson and Mairead Finnegan
who presented the medals. A special thanks to the ladies
of the Events committee who served the food when they
should have been at home relaxing on Mothers Day. Thanks
to our sponsors for the day Coca Cola and Four Star
Pizza.

Juvenile AGM. The AGM was
postponed due to the death of club vice-president Haulie
Keogh (RIP). It will now take place at 730.pm on Thursday 03
March in the clubhouse.
U-14. All U-14 players are
asked to meet at the clubhouse on Saturday morning at 10.am
to travel to Nemo Rangers in Cork.
Medal Presentation. Medals
for the 2004 season will be presented in the clubhouse at
530.pm on Sunday 06 March. Medals will be presented to our
U-14, U-15 and U-16 teams who were crowned East Kerry
Champions. Our U-12 hurlers who won Div 4 of the county
league will also receive their medals. All parents are
welcome to attend. Kerry senior players Eoin Brosnan, Colm
Cooper and Kieran Cremin will present the medals.
