County Final (Played in
Tralee on Monday(B.H)October 30th)
Kerins O'Rahillys 1-12 ----------- Dr Crokes
1-9
We were beaten for the second year in a
row in the County Minor Final, going down to Kerins
O'Rahillys by three points on Bank Holiday Monday.
However hope springs eternal in our club and we will be
challenging strongly to win the competition in 2007.Two
thirds of the team will again be young enough so victory
can be achieved.
Our opponents were the better team on the day
and I don't think that any Minor Team in a County Final
had two players in the one team of the calibre of David
Moran and Tommy Walsh. Such was the task that faced us
and after being outplayed for long periods in the game
we put in a great last ten minutes that brought us
within a score of the Tralee boys at the end.
Aided by the breeze our opponents went into a
0-4 to 0-1 lead after twelve minutes. We had a good
spell in the next five minutes and scored two points to
reduce the deficit to a point. The remainder of the half
belonged to the O'Rahillys as they scored three points
without reply for a four point interval lead.
With the breeze at our back we got the worst
possible start to the second half as our opponents had a
point and then a goal after we had missed a good chance
of a major. That was the defining moment of the game as
instead of being two points in arrears the margin was
eight.By the 52nd minute the Tralee lads had added on
four more points to our two to lead 1-12 to 0-5. Our
lads did the Club proud with their never say die finish
and we had an unanswered reply of 1-4 to be just one
score behind at the full time whistle.
Great credit is due to the players and to our
mentors John Galvin, Jim Connelly, Billy Hennigan, Denis
Corridan and James Cahillane for the great year they
have given us.The East Kerry Championship is still their
to be won.
Congratulations to Kerins O'Rahillys on their
great victory and the part they played in an outstanding
and sporting game.

Semi-Final ---- Dr Crokes 1-8 ---- East Kerry
0-8 (Played in Killorglin on Sat 7th Oct 06)
We scrambled over the line by a goal in this hard earned
win over our East Kerry neighbours. This win qualified us
for the final against Kerins O'Rahillys. Even though our
opponents had much more of the play for the first
threequarters of the game they were not able to convert
their scoring chances and we were also helped by a goal
of the soft variety in the sixteenth minute. We however
had a great last quarter , scoring four points without
reply. Although East Kerry had the advantage of
the strong breeze in the first half we were level at two
points each at the end of the first quarter. Our goal in
the 16th minute as well as two Johnnie Buckley points to
our opponents four points in this second quarter gave us
an interval lead of 1-4 to 0-6. East Kerry with
two points in the first five minutes of the second half
went a point ahead. They did not however score in the
last twenty five minutes. This was due in part to some
bad wides but also to some heroic defending by us. The
last quarter belonged to us and breeze aided we sent
over four unanswered points for a three point victory.
