Final Result
--- Dr Crokes 1-09 Rathmore 1-07 (Played in Fossa on
Sat 20th Oct)
Even Though we didn't
give a quality display we still ran out two point
winners against a good Rathmore side at Fossa.Maybe we
played as well as we were left and while we grinded out
a victory in the end we certainly had to dig deep to get
over the line.In the end we would have to thank our full
back line who stood firm throughout and a vintage
forward display by Jamie Doolan.Full credit to the rest
of the team as well, many of whom were playing below
form, but still contributed in no small way to the
win.Rathmore even though they lost in the end must have
taken some satisfaction from their young teams display.
We got off to a great
start with a Jamie Doolan goal in the third minute.By
the tenth minute our opponents had scored 1-3 to go
three points ahead. Just before the end of the first
quarter we added on two points to leave the minimum
between the teams. We outscored our opposition three
points to one in the second quarter to go in at the
interval 1-5 to 1-4 in front.
We went a further point
in front in the 31st minute , our only score of the
third quarter. By the end of this period Rathmore had
drawn level with two unanswered points. Jamie Doolan put
us two points ahead with minors in the 47th and 48th
minutes. Our opponents had a point in the 54th minute
which made for a very exciting finish. Both sides missed
chances in the next five minutes but David O'Leary came
up with the insurance point in the 60th minute to give
us victory by two points.

Semi Final;
-- Dr Crokes 2-13 ------ Spa 1-9 (Played
in Kilcummin on Friday 5th October 07)
The midfield dominance
of Johnny Buckley , ably assisted by Daithi Casey
and the lethal finishing of Jamie Doolan ensured victory
for us in the East Kerry Minor Championship semi final
against Spa at Kilcummin.
Unlike last years semi
final against the same opposition in a game in which we
started slowly we were quick of the mark on this
occasion. By the end of the first quarter we were five
points in front. The second fifteen minutes were far
more even, during which we scored just one more point
than our opponents to lead 0-9 to 0-3 at the interval.
Spa were guilty of some bad wides during this first
thirty minutes but they must have been very grateful as
well that their goalie brought off some great saves.
Our opponents had the
first score of the second half, a point but the defining
moment of the game came in the 35th minute when ace
poacher Ruairi Mangan struck for a goal to put us eight
points in front. Spa had the next score , a point to
leave seven points between the sides at the threequarter
stage.A Shane O'Neill goal in the 47th minute sealed
Spa's fate but they did have the consolation of a well
taken penalty goal to leave us seven point winners at
the end.
