Match Report
----- Dr Crokes
2-8 ---------- Spa 1-7(Played in Lewis Rd on
Sunday 11th Feb) In a very
closely contested game, played in very bad conditions we
ran out winners by four points against Spa.The defining
moment of the game came six minutes from time when
Daithi Casey raced through the Spa defence for a great
goal. Up to that it had been nip and tuck with the
inevitable result difficult to call. Both teams
performed admirably considering it was their first game
of the season. It was great to see Philip O'Connor back
after his long sojourn on the sideline through injury. Team
and Scorers; David Neeson; Chris Egan,
Jonathon Clarke, Timothy Dudley; Donal Cronin, Michael
McMahon, Fionn Fitzgerald; Johnny Buckley 0-2, John
Bartlett 0-1; T.J.Cronin 0-1, Daithi Casey 1-0, Niall
O'Connell; Pat Fuller, Ruairi Mangan 1-0, Jamie Doolan
0-4. Subs; Shane O'Neill, Philip O'Connor.
Round 2
Dr Crokes 1-18 ---------- Legion 4-5.
( Played in Direen on Saturday March 3rd )
Even though we played outstandingly well
for most of this game we still had only four points to
spare at the end of the sixty minutes. The Legion are
however a decent team, boasting several of the St
Brendans fifteen beaten by a point in the recent Munster
Final.
We put up a score of 1-10in the first thirty
minutes for an eight point lead. We enjoyed a lot of
possession again in the second half and added a further
eight points. We will however have to tighten up in
defence as the concession of four goals left us fighting
for victory right to the end.
