SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 4: - Dr Crokes 1-07, Scartaglen 0-10. Played in Lewis Road on Sunday 27th of March, in this game we had territorial advantages in the first half and led by 1-4 to 0-3 at half time. This not to say that the visitors had a poor first thirty minutes as they threatened our goal on a number of occasions and were denied by some great saves by our goal keeper David Neeson. We lost Cillian Regan through injury at the end of the first half and this did not help our chances for the remainder of the game. Scartaglen were well on top for the most of the second half and although we had the first point after half time to go five points clear, the visitors hit seven points without reply to go into injury time two points in front. Thingsdid not look good for us at this juncture but credit our players for putting in a last ditch effort. Good points in injury time by Chris Doncel and Philip O'Connor gave us equality just before the final whistle. Our best players on the day were David Neeson, Brian Fitzgerald, Shane Lyne, Paul Clarke, Chris Doncel and Philip O'Connor. Team and Scorers: David Neeson, Brian Fitzgerald, Keith Mc Mahon, Sean Coppinger, Brendan Falvey, Éanna Kavanagh, Denis Fleming, Cilian Regan 0-1, Shane Lyne, Mac Dara Willis 0-1, Paul Clarke, Chris Doncel 1-1, Cian O' Neill 0-1, Philip O' Connor 0-2, Shane O' Neill 0-1. Subs: James Jones, Jack Linehan.

LADIES FOOTBALL - U14: Our U14 Girls kicked off their 2016 campaign with a win over Dingle on Easter Sunday at Lewis Rd. A comfortable victory with some fine scores and all the squad members got significant game time. Next up is an away fixture with Spa in Round 2 of the County League.

JUVENILE MEDALS PRESENTATION: The Juvenile medal presentation was held in the clubhouse last Friday. It was fantastic to see so many parents, mentors and club members present to support our juvenile players and give them the recognition they deserve for their success throughout the year. Colm Cooper and Johnny Buckley presented the medals and passed on some words of wisdom to the medal recipients on the night. The U14 boys football teams collected their County Féile, Regional Féile, East Kerry Championship and East Kerry League Division 5 medals. The U12 and U14 girls teams received their East Kerry League medals. SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 1 - 2015 FINAL / 2016 RD. 1: Even though we eventually won this game by six points, we got a big scare at the three quarter stage when Austin Stacks ran through us for 2-01 to leave just one point between the teams. We got back on top again and had the next three scores a goal and two points, the major a well taken effort by substitute Jordan Kiely. The teams exchanged points on two occasions in the last fifteen minutes to leave us six point winners at the end. The first half was played with great intensity by both sides. We, however, took our scores better than our opponents. In this thirty minutes, both defences failed to deal with forwards running at them. Stacks problem was that they didn't convert the chances presented as well as we did. We went on this first thirty minutes to score 2-09 to our opponents 1-05, which gave us a good interval lead of seven points. We had two points to Austin Stacks one in the third quarter, a period when both sides were short of ideas. Then came our opponents great fight back and their reducing of our lead to the minimum. We did however close it out in the last quarter to add another County League Division 1 title to our collection. Our best players on the day we're Eoin Brosnan, Fionn Fitzgerald, Mike Milner, Brian Looney, Colm Cooper and Daithi Casey. Team and scorers: Alan Kelly, John Payne, Fionn Fitzgerald 0-01, David O' Leary, PJ Lawlor, Mike Moloney, Mike Milner 0-01, Eoin Brosnan, Johnny Buckley, Kieran O'Leary 0-02, Gavin O'Shea 1-00, Brian Looney 1-02 (0-02 45'), Colm Cooper 0-04 (0-01 free), Daithi Casey 0-03 (0-02 frees), Chris Brady 0-01. Subs: Gavin White, Jordan Kiely 1-00, Michael Burns 0-01, Shane Doolan, Andrew Kennelly, Cilian Fitzgerald.

JUVENILE HURLING: The U14 hurler's got their Co. League - Division 2 campaign underway on Saturday evening last against Lixnaw at home. This Lixnaw side were a very strong team and could contend very well in Division 1. While we suffered a heavy defeat, our young hurlers didn't give up at any stage and kept battling, performing very well as a team and tagging on well-deserved scores in the second half. On Friday, 25th March, we travel to Kilmoyley to play the home side in Round 2.

U16 HURLING: The U16's also got their Co. League underway this past weekend with a home game against Ballyduff. While we put up a good performance, Ballyduff got away with the win. Our U16's will also travel to Kilmoyley from Round 2 on Sunday, 27th March.

NEW SPONSORSHIP / JERSEY LAUNCH: Following discussions over the past few months Dr Crokes are delighted to welcome on board Patrick O'Sullivan and Maurice Regan who have joined forces to give our club a great boost as we start out on a new football season. Patrick O'Sullivan as you know is the current County Board Chairman but he and his family have been steeped in the Dr Crokes club for quite a number of years. Patrick has previously served as club chairman, his wife Frances is our current club registrar, Deborah Ann, Patrick’s sister, looks after our club shop but both ladies also contribute in many other areas within the club, Patrick’s mom, Bridie, has been also been involved within the club over the years, while Eddie, Patrick’s dad, has not only been a great supporter of the club for many years, he has also managed and been a selector with many underage and adult teams in the Crokes, the latest member of the family to get the managerial bug is Patrick’s brother, Edmund, who has been doing tremendous work as our Minor team manager for the last few years. Maurice Regan is a Kerry native, a very successful business man based in New York and is President and CEO of construction giant JT Magen & Company Inc. Maurice is a good friend of Patrick’s, is a long-time supporter of Dr Crokes and we are delighted that he has now taken his support to another level. Dr Crokes would like to acknowledge the generous Sponsorship provided by the INEC / Gleneagle / Scotts over the past 6 years and are pleased to note the INEC / Gleneagle / Scotts will continue to be an associate Sponsor. Chairperson Denis Coleman said that Dr Crokes were delighted to display the INEC / Gleneagle / Scotts logos. During these years our senior team won four senior county championships in a row, competed in four Munster senior club finals winning three Munster titles in a row and competed in three All-Ireland Senior Club Semi-finals. During this time our second team, U21s and Minors have also been simmering away nicely winning titles at County and East Kerry level and all the while carrying the O'Donoghue family brand on their jerseys. In summary, Denis Coleman said he was delighted to see both Patrick's and Maurice's Company names on our jerseys for the next three years - we hope we can repay them with many successful days on the playing fields.

EK SUPER LEAGUE - RD. 4: Dr Crokes 0-19 Listry 0-07. Even though we won this game by a margin of twelve points we had to fight hard for our scores, especially in the first half, at the end of which we led by just three points, 0-08 to 0-05. We probably had an edge in fitness and this showed in the second half when we added on eleven points to Listry's two. Our opponents didn't have many attacks in this thirty minutes but we defended well and out cut many of their offensive moves. A worrying thing for our management would be that only two of our starting six forwards scored from play, Paul Clarke hitting over six and Brian Looney 0-03.This victory qualifies us for the League Final. Team and Scorers: Alan Kelly, John Payne, Alan O'Sullivan 0-01, David O'Leary, Mike Milner, Mike Moloney, Shane Lyne, Shane Doolan 0-02, Eoin Brosnan 0-01, Paul Clarke 0-06, Gavin O'Shea, Brian Looney 0-04 (0-01 45'), Andrew Kennelly, Daithi Casey 0-04 (frees), Chris Brady. Subs: Cillian Fitzgerald, Mark Egan 0-01, Shane Lyne, Bryan O'Shea, Cillian Regan.
