Club Notes Week 38   24/09/2018

Weekly Notes 24th of September

Ladies East Kerry U 14 final.

The club's Under 14 girls finished off their competitive season with a fine win in their Division 2 B Final v Milltown/Listry. It didn't take the girls long to get over their excitement of playing in the hallowed arena of the Fitzgerald Stadium. After a few early misses for points they got into their stride and opened up a four point gap in the first quarter. Milltown/Listry had our 6 defenders busy for the following 15 minutes, but credit to them all, they, worked extremely hard with fine blocking and dispossessing, which gave the forwards ample opportunity to add further points resulting in Dr Crokes taking an eight point lead to the dressing rooms at halftime. After the first score of the second half by Dr Crokes, it was our opponents who found their rhythm and had their supporters off their feet with excitement. It was at this critical spell that Milltown/Listry were awarded a penalty, but a fantastic save by Faith Lockett had Crokes supporters cheering and it also lead to a score for the team directly from that play. Now with their tails up, Dr Crokes played some lovely combination football with all the girls supporting each other throughout the field. They added a further goal and a point to finish on a scoreline of 1-10, enough to see the team captain Debbie Maye be presented with the East Kerry plaque by Ladies East Kerry Board Chairman David Randles.
