Weekly Notes 10th of June

Round 5 County League Division 1
An Ghaeltacht 2-14 Dr Crokes 3-15Played in Gallarus on Saturday 8th of JuneIn a game in which there were very good scores by both sides we ran out winners in the end by four points on a score of 3-15 to 2-14.This game was closely contested from the start, we were on top in the first quarter and lef after 15 minutes by 0-4 to 0-2. An Ghaeltacht came very much into the game in the second quarter and led 0-7 to 0-6 going into injury time. In this time added on Kieran O'Leary struck for a goal which gave us a half time lead of 1-6 to 0-7.Jordan Kiely had a point straight after half time but our opponents then struck for two goals. It took a goal by Jordan Kiely in the 37th minute to equalise the game at 2-7 each. A few minutes later An Ghaeltacht sent over two points without reply to go into a 2-9 to 2-7 lead.A goal by Chris Brady in the 41st minute put us back in front by a point. We finished the last quarter better outscoring our opponents by eight points to five. This gave us victory by 3-15 to 2-14 when the referee blew for full time. Both sides were under strength but at the same time there was some great football by both teams. Even though our regulars Kieran O'Leary and Jordan Kiely scored more than half our total scores betweenthem, great credit is due to our fringe players who contributed enormously to our victory as did our other first team players.Team: Johnny O'Leary, Brian Fitzgerald, Jason Lyne, David Naughton, Chris Doncel, Lorcan Mc McMonagle, Jack Griffin, Daithi Casey, Mark O'Shea, Mike Casey, Chris Brady, Brian Looney, Bryan O'Shea, Kieran O'Leary, Jordan KielySubs: Mike Milner

Under 12 Boys

Congrats to our U12 boys who enjoyed well earned victory on the road against a very good Kenmare side on Monday evening. Our boys struck early and often getting 4 goals in the first half and took a commanding 7 points lead into the half-time break. Kenmare upped their performance in the second half getting a few great goals themselves as the game ebbed and flowed. A superb team performance with a great spread of scorers saw our boys hold on for a well deserved victory. Dr Crokes Team:
Goalkeeper: Jack O’Donoghue
Defenders: Cathal Sugrue, Sean Kiely, Mark O’Carroll & Jake Downing,
Midfielders: Dara O’Sullivan & Adam Byrne
Forwards: Ben Kelliher, Brian McCarthy, Liam Hennigan & Muiris O’Donoghue. Final score: Kenmare 3:13 Dr Crokes 5:11
