Club Notes Week 27 2022   11/07/2022

Co. League Div. 1 Dr.Crokes 5-15 Kenmare Shamrocks 1-04. On Saturday evening we travelled to Kenmare for a one sided affair. Billy Courtney got our scoring underway in the first minute of the game with a point from play. It wasn’t until the 8th minute that Kenmare opened their scoring. Daithi Casey converted a penalty 8 minutes before the half time whistle, helping to give us a 1-07 to 0-02 lead at the break. We came out even stronger in the second half, with goals from Mikey Casey, Michael Potts and Brian Looney. As we have finished on top of the table along with Austin Stacks and Dingle, there will be a three way playoff. The first play-off game will take place next Saturday evening.

Co. League Div. 3 Dr.Crokes 0-05 Piarsaigh Na Dromoda 2-15. Our second team went down to a stronger Piarsaigh Na Dromoda team at home on Saturday last. We got off to a slow start in very hot conditions. Unfortunately, we never looked like winning the game but the boys worked hard throughout and never gave up.

SHC Dr.Crokes 1-12 Kilmoyley 3-25. Despite the margin on the scoreboard, this game was by no means a one sided contest. We got off to a good start despite two first half goals from Kilmoyley. In the 27th minute Jack Lenihan found the back of the net after a Mark Heffernan long range free dropped into the square putting us two points ahead at the half time whistle. Kilmoyley came out like a new team in the second half, scoring 3 points in the first 70 seconds of play. It was always going to be a tough battle, particularly when we were missing a number of our key men.

U21 Co. Championship Dr.Crokes 1-12 East Kerry 2-20. Our U21 team travelled to Spa where they faced a very strong East Kerry team. We were missing a large number of our panel through injury and unavailability. We lined out with a very young team on the night. The boys fought hard and put up a brilliant display, trailing by just 4 points at half time. We continued to put pressure on our opponents in the second half with great performances from Evan Looney and Erin Moloney. East Kerry started to pull away in the last 10 minutes of the game. Overall, it was a fantastic display by a very young team with a bright future.
