Club Notes Week 28 2022   18/07/2022

East Kerry Superleague Final Dr.Crokes 2-12 Legion 3-10. A disappointing end to a highly entertaining local derby played in beautiful conditions on Friday evening. We got off to a good start, leading by 4 points to 2 points after 10 minutes of play. A legion goal after 20 minutes was quickly counteracted with a Daithi Casey goal down the other end of the field. Four legion points without response meant that we trailed by one at the short whistle, 1-07 to 1-08. Goals were quicky swapped once again after 4 minutes of the second half after a David Shaw goal was followed by a legion goal. We worked well to hold our lead for much of the second half until we conceded an unlucky goal with 62 minutes on the clock. This concluding goal proved costly.

U15 East Kerry Final Dr.Crokes 5-04 Rathmore 1-17Our U15 boys staged a thrilling comeback in the East Kerry Div. 2 Final on Thursday last. They ultimately came up short by 2 points against an excellent Rathmore team played in splendid conditions in the magnificent Fitzgerald stadium. The boys showed brilliant character but were beaten by a better team on the night in a fine sporting open game of football. Thanks to Der Brosnan of the Fitzgerald Stadium, Sean O’Keeffe and team from the East Kerry Board for the excellent organisation on the night and to James Brosnan referee and his officials.

U16 Girls Our U16 girls faced Firies away in the County League Semi Final on Wednesday last. Unfortunately, we never got into the game in the first half and found it very difficult against a physically stronger Firies side. The girls fought hard in the second half and showed some great character. They never gave up and kept working hard until the final whistle, however Firies ended comfortable winners in the end. Well done to our younger players who really stepped up on the night. We wish Saoirse O’Sullivan a speedy recovery from an injury she sustained towards the end of the game.
