Club Notes Week 11 2023   20/03/2023

Credit Union County League Dr. Crokes 1-12 Kilcummin 0-12. On Sunday we played Kilcummin, one week on from beating them in the EK Superleague Final. This was another highly entertaining game. Kilcummin took control for much of the first half leading 0-04 to 0-06 at half time. Mikey Casey was very unlucky not to hit the back of the Kilcummin net after hitting the crossbar halfway through the first half. The second half went more in our favour with Brian Fitzgerald and Evan Looney playing well in attack and Brian Looney, Michael Burns and Mikey Casey excelling up front. In the 10th minute Brian Fitzgerald was taken down inside the square and Michael Burns slotted the ball into the back of the net. The goal was the changing of the game. This was a good team performance. Final score 1-12 to 0-12.

Div. 4 SFL Dr. Crokes 1-15 Cordal 3-13. On St. Patricks Day we welcomed Cordal to Lewis Road for round 1 of the County League. This was a very competitive game with both teams playing to the best of their abilities right until the end. We were faced with an unlucky blow early in the first half when Cordal struck the ball passed Shay O’Meara in the Dr. Crokes goals. Infairness to our boys they refused to lie down and kept Cordal scoreless for long periods of the first half. Going in at half time we led by one point with Bryan O’Shea putting on a fine display. Half time Dr. Crokes 1-08 Cordal 1-07. The secnd half was as entertaining at the first. We started the stronger, scoring 4 points without reply. Cordal added to their goal tally after 10 minutes. The game was almost too close to call right up to the final whistle. Cordal finished deserving winners on the day.

Div. 6 SFL Dr. Crokes 3-12 Kerins O’Rahilly’s 1-09.
