LOTTO: Draw took place in the Tatler Jack on Sunday last. Numbers drawn 1, 9, 13, 18. There was no winner of the jackpot of â‚¬12,600. 6 players matched 3 numbers and won €70 each. Next week's jackpot is €12,900. Draw will take place in the Tatler Jack on Sunday 4th October 2015.

CLUB C'SHIP FINAL: Dr Crokes 0-14, Dingle 2-12 . We always seemed to be struggling in this final against Dingle, played in Milltown. We were however in this game at the three quarter stage. Even when Dingle added on three points without reply at this stage we responded with three unanswered points to level the game going into the last ten minutes. Dingle went through for a match winning goal a minute later and this was the score that sealed the game. Our opponents outscored us three points to two in the remaining minutes for a well deserved four point victory. Goals win games and Dingle outscored us two goals to nil and this had a major influence on the result. The loss of Johnny Buckley (He received two yellow cards before half time) did not help our cause but our opponents also lost Maitiu Flatherty a few minutes earlier. After a very poor first half, the teams went in at the interval on level terms, 1-02 to Dingle and 0-05 to us. The football was much better in the second half. Dingle seemed to want the victory more and were never behind on the score board in this second thirty minutes. The defeat stopped us from winning the competition for four years in a row but congratulations to Dingle on their well deserved victory. We must analyse our display which by our standards was not great and get ready  for our County Championship game against Austin Stacks on Sunday next. Team and scorers: Alan Kelly, John Payne, Mike Moloney, Cilian Fitzgerald, Fionn Fitzgerald, Eoin Brosnan (0-01), Shane Doolan, Ambrose O' Donovan, Johnny Buckely (0-01), Alan O' Sullivan (0-01), Brian Looney, Daithi Casey (0-04, 0-02 frees), Jordan Kiely, Colm Cooper (0-04, 0-03 frees), Jamie Doolan. Subs used: Gavin O'Shea (0-01), David O'Leary, Mike Milner, Tony Brosnan (0-02, 0-01 free). Our best players on the day were Eoin Brosnan, Colm Cooper, Alan O' Sullivan, Ambrose O' Donovan and Daithi Casey.

U11 & U12 FOOTBALL: On our second last game of the year both teams travelled to direen to take on the legion for the third time this year. The black team, missing a few players for different reasons, lost the toss and played against a strong wind in the first half. The Crokes worked very hard in the first half and went in losing 2-06 to 1-05 at halftime which they must have been happy with considering the conditions. Then from the start of the second half Crokes kicked 1-01 with no reply to level the game.Jason lee caused problems in at full forward and got a great goal and a couple of points to give the Crokes a five point lead but legion never gave up and battled away.Ronan Coffey finished a great move which ended in a goal and then legion fought back to level the game with two minutes left. Then a long range point from Jason lee and a Cian mc Mahon goal put Crokes four up and gave the Crokes a great win.Keelan foley made some fine saves and the defence played very well but it was an overall team effort that won the game.Well done to both teams for a very entertaining game. The amber team beat legion 5-14 to 4-08 in a very competitive game with some great scores at both ends.A big thank you to the U10 boys who filled in today. The last game is next Sunday away to Kenmare at 11 and hopefully both teams can continue their good form and finish the season on a high.

SYMPATHY: Deepest sympathies to the Wickham Family and Spa GAA Club on the death of John Wickham.

SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 1: Dr Crokes 2-18 Castleisland Desmonds 0-11. This win over Desmonds on Sunday 13th of September guaranteed us a place in the final of the competition and also a home venue for this final. We had a point in the first minute but four unanswered points by our opponents must have caused concern to our mentors as they were well on top in this first ten minutes. Our lads seemed to settle a bit better at this stage and before the end of this first quarter we had moved into a 1-04 to 0-05 lead. Desmonds added on two points without reply in the next five minutes to leave the teams level after twenty minutes. We scored five points to our opponents one in the last ten minutes of the half to leave us 1-09 to 0-08 ahead at the interval. There's a game changing period in most matches and the first seven minutes of the third quarter, in which we outscored Desmonds by six points to nil, more or less ended this game as a contest. This put us ten points clear. Both sides emptied their benches in the fourth quarter. We added on 1-03 to our 0-03, for a 2-18 to 0-11 victory. Both teams would have welcomed, what was a good competitive game as we both face championship encounters in the near future. Desmonds were unfortunate to lose their outstanding forward, Thomas Hickey, very early in the game and we wish him well for a speedy recovery. We were consistent in that we scored 1-09 in each half and one would hope that the game would bring us on as we face championship games in the next few weeks.Team and scorers: Alan Kelly, Mike Moloney, Cillian Fitzgerald, Shane Doolan, Eoin Brosnan, David O' Leary, Ambrose O' Donovan, Mike Milner, Alan O' Sullivan (0-03), Brian Looney (0-05), Daithi Casey (0-05, 0-02 frees), Jamie Doolan (0-02), Andrew Kenneally, Jordan Kiely (1-02). Subs used: PJ Lawlor, Gavin O' Shea (0-01), Cillian O' Regan, Shane Myers (1-00), Philip O' Connor. Our best wishes as well to our two players, David O' Leary and Chris Brady who were injured during the game.

U21 CLUB C'SHIP QUARTER FINAL: Dr. Crokes 2-15, Dingle 2-13. In a game which was full of quality, excitement and passion and which either side could have won, ended in a two point victory for Dr Crokes. It looked like Dingle's game as they led by two points going into the last few minutes, after having been a goal behind with six minutes to go. The hosts struck for a goal by Macdara DeBhillis and a point by Dara Stack and victory by two points. Dingle started the better with two points in as many minutes. Crokes struck for a goal and a point to lead by two points  after five minutes.  The teams exchanged points in the next few minuted but four points by the hosts without reply put them 1-05 to 0-03 ahead at the end of the first quarter.  Dingle were well on to in the second quarter and had five points to Crokes two in this period to leave Crokes 1-08 to 0-08 ahead at half time. The teams exchanged points on two occasions in the first ten minutes for the second half. The visitors got well on top on the next five minutes and a good point and a well worked goal by Matthew Flaherty put them a point front at the end of the third quarter. Four unanswered points by Tony Brosnan, a free, a '45 and two from play put the hosts three points clear with six minutes to go.  The initiative was was now with Crokes but Dingle never gave up and a goal and two points without reply gave them a two point lead with as many minutes to go. Then came Crokes grandstand finish with a goal and a point and a two point victory. Best for Crokes were David Naughton, Jason Lyne, Paul Clarke, Gavin O'Shea and Tony Brosnan.  Dingle were best served by Tony O'Sullivan, Padraig O'Concuir, Barra O'Suilleabhain, Matthew Flaherty, Cathal Bambury and Tomás Sheehy. Scorers: David Naughton (0-01), Gavin O'Shea (0-01), Darragh Stack (0-01), Jordan Kiely (1-04), MacDara de Bhilis (1-02), Tony Brosnan (0-06, 2f, 1'45).

PAINT DAY: Congrats to all our volunteers who braved the weather conditions on Sunday morning to give the outside of the clubhouse and the stand a fresh new look. The club events committee was also on hand to look after the painters with very-welcomed refreshments when the work was done. Between painters and caterers, over 50 members turned out on what wasn't the most pleasant morning of the year - what a fantastic response to the club's latest #GetBehindTheBus appeal. Saturday week, 26th September has been provisionally pencilled in as the day to finish the job - the club looks forward to you you all back again. If for some reason, you were unable to make it to the first painting day you are more than welcome to join in the fun as we finish this great club project.

LOTTO: Draw took place in the Tatler Jack on Sunday last. Numbers drawn 1, 7, 18, 24. There was no winner of the jackpot of â‚¬11,700. 16 players matched 3 numbers and won €25 each. Next week's jackpot is €12,000. Draw will take place in the J.C. O'Shea's on Sunday 13th September 2015.

EK MINOR LEAGUE FINAL: Dr. Crokes 3-11, Spa 1-09. By virtue of a grandstand, last eight minutes finish, in which we scored 1-4 without reply saw us win this final by eight points. We were first to score in this Final played Spa, a point by Jack Griffin, our opponents got on top in the next ten minutes and led 0-3 to 0-1 at the end of the first quarter. We went ahead in the next five minutes, with three unanswered points. In the last ten minutes of the half we scored one point to Spa's two, to leave the teams level, five points each at half time. When our opponents sent over the first four score's all points, after half time, our prospects did not look good as we had also lost the services of our star forward Mike Casey, before the end of the first half. Our lads dug deep after this early setback and a goal and a point by both Adam O' Shea and Michael Potts put us four points clear. Spa however were not going to surrender tamely and went through for a goal from a penalty in the 20th minute. Then came our dominant finish which yielded 1-04 and victory by eight points. Our final goal showed Jack Griffin at his courageous best as he got inside our opponents defence to knock the ball into the net. He unfortunately suffered a bad injury in this the last play of the game. Our best wishes  for a speedy recovery to Jack Griffin and Mike Casey. Team and Scorers: Tony Clifford, Brian Fitzgerald, Jack Linehan, James Mc Auliffe, Michael Potts 1-01, David Naughton, Creagh Courtney (Capt), Paul Clarke, John Kerrisk, Mark O' Shea, Mike Casey 0-01, Jack Griffin 1-01, Brendan Coppinger 0-01, Dylan O' Sullivan 0-01, Adam O' Shea 1-06 (0-05 frees, 0-01 45). Subs used: Mark Hartnett, Shane O' Connor, Donal O' Sullivan.

SENIOR HURLING: Dr. Crokes Senior hurlers into County Intermediate Hurling Final as winning streak continues. At the beautiful John Mitchels GAA grounds in Tralee on Sunday last, our hurlers produced a terrific performance to defeat Lixnaw in the County Semi-Final. Despite a slow start during which we lost our experienced centre back Brendan McMahon to a hamstring injury, the lads settled before half time, courtesy of a goal from Sean Morris, to go into the break just two points down with the score line reading Dr. Crokes 1-05, Lixnaw 1-07. The second half was a very different story and from the start, Dr. Crokes took command and put in an excellent 30 minutes of hurling to comprehensively out score Lixnaw and to emerge winners on a final score line of 2-15 to 2-08. This was a really good performance by all our players and a combination of youth, experience, ability and simple hard work made for a some of our best hurling of the season. The support we had at the game was a great help and meant a lot to the team and management. We face Kilmoyley in the County Final on a date and at a venue to be arranged. Team and Subs used: Jamie Lenihan, Rory Waters, Kevin Landers (Capt), Dan Guerin, Sean Burchill, Brendan McMahon, Mike Murphy, Jack Lenihan (0-03), Michael Milner, Michael O'Keeffe, Mike McCarthy (0-08), Keith Curtin(0-01), Sean Morris (1-02) Brendan O Donovan, Aaron Murphy, Chris Doncel(1-00), Cian O'Brien, Andrew Kenneally (0-01), Barry O'Grady.

COLM COOPER INVITATIONAL BLITZ 2015: Played in beautiful sunshine last Saturday, our 4th Annual Colm Cooper Blitz was again a huge success. Teams from, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Galway, Dublin & Down descended on Lewis Road to compete in this very prestigious event. Games began just after our Academy finished and continued till the evening. In two very tight groups Ballyholland Harps and Ballincollig emerged as group winners, followed into 2nd by The Nire and Bishopstown. Our boys narrowly missed out of a cup semi-final on a count back, however they won the semi-final and final of the Plate to take some satisfaction. After two engrossing games both Cork teams came through to contest the Final. Both teams were lead onto the field by our senior footballer Mike Milner who also played the national anthem. An enthralling encounter ensued where there was very little between both sides. This was proved when the game finished level. In the Final stages of extra time Bishopstown pulled away to win. Huge congratulations to all teams involved for partaking in the proper manner, and making this tournament another great occasion. Well Done to the organising and events committee for putting on a very special day, our own special tribute to Colm. Well Done Everyone. Already looking forward to next years event.

#GetBehindTheBus: The next few weeks are going to keep everyone in our club busy. As a result of great effort by the players and management, our supporters have many many big games to look forward to - so lets get out and support them.

Our U14s start the week with the replay of the East Kerry Championship on Monday night in the Fitzgerald Stadium. On Saturday next our ladies play in the County Final of the Junior Championship and later that evening our U21s are at home to Dingle in the 1/4 final of the Club Championship. On Sunday next our Senior team play at home against Castleisland Desmonds in a top-of-the-table clash of the Division County league.

PAINTERS REQUIRED: The year began with a fantastic statement by the members when they installed over 1000 seats in the stand. Next Sunday, the members will paint the outside of the clubhouse. The club will provide the paint and members are asked to turn up at 10:00 a.m. with a brush or roller and, weather permitting, the building will get a great facelift.

CONGRATULATIONS: to Jack Linehan who won his second All-Ireland Minor 'B' Hurling Championship medal with Kerry on Saturday last, defeating Roscommon. This is a great achievement for Jack, for his family and for his club.

BEST WISHES: As we move into the business end of the GAA season for Kerry, our club looks forward to cheering on Colm Cooper, Johnny Buckley, Fionn Fitzgerald and Kieran O'Leary with the Kerry Seniors and Gavin White, Billy Courtney and David Shaw with the Kerry Minors on All-Ireland Final Day. It's great for our club to have so many players involved at this level - best of luck lads.
