1957 --------- Dr Crokes 4-11 -----------------------Rathmore 1-2 In the semi final Dr Crokes and Kilcummin met in a game that was expected to be very tight. The local papers said”that the speed and accuracy of the Crokes forwards established a win on a score of 3-6 to 0-2. The game was the subject of an objection by the losers who alleged that Mick Breen was illegal. Michael O’Connor N.T outlined the Dr Crokes case and contended that Kilcummin were not entitled to object to Dr Crokes as they were not officially registered. The Chairman of the County Board, Frank Sheehy said he was prepared to rule, subject to the willingness of the Rathmore Club, that Dr Crokes again play Kilcummin in the semi final; the winners to meet Rathmore in the final. The press referred to the replayed game as a “needle affair”, which at times got out of hand and only settled when a player was ordered off the field. The final score was 2-8 to nil in Crokes favour. As predicted in the press, the experience of the Killarney men would prove to be too much for Rathmore in the final. Crokes set a blistering pace, availed of most of their chances and established a 2-4 to nil lead at half time. The second half again produced a long succession of Dr Crokes scores, despite some heroic defending from Rathmore, leaving Crokes winners on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-2.
