GREETINGS Wishing all our members, players, and supporters a fruitful 2010 21/12/09 O`DONOGHUE CUP FINAL Dr. Crokes 0-14 Gneevegulia 0-09. We won our 25th title 7th in this decade with a 5 point victory over a gallant Gneevegulia side. In tough winter conditions our ability to kick points when given the opportunity was the difference between the sides. This was a special team performance where everyone put their shoulder to the wheel and finish the year with silverware and get over the disappointment of losing two finals. Special mention of the management team who worked long and tirelessly all season, their ability to keep the players fresh considering Sundays game was our tenth in 12 weeks they along with the players deserve the break and hope all will return in 2010 refreshed. MAN OF THE MATCH Congratulations to Brian Looney who was selected as the Acquilla Club Man of the Match. He was presented with his award at function on Sunday evening. JUVENILE HURLING All Star Saturday at Dr Crokes. The visit to Dr Crokes juvenile hurling of the Kilkenny Allstars hurlers was an outstanding success. We were blessed with dry mild weather and a large fantastic and enthusiastic crowd of players and spectators attended. Unfortunately PJ Ryan was unavailable to attend, however the experience gained from Martin Comerford and Eoin Larkin was immense for players and coaches. The two hour training session with them was interesting, enjoyable and will be of benefit to our juvenile hurlers as we look forward to 2010.There were upwards of sixty juveniles in attendance and the two All Stars were very busy with drills, exercises and tips on some of the skills of hurling. Working closely with such good hurlers is a great experience for all hurlers and of course they brought along the Leinster C/Ship trophy and the NHL trophy. There was time for photos and autographs and a great day was had by all. Dr Crokes wish to express our sincers thanks to Martin Comerford and Eoin Larking for their courtesy, time and effort and our gratitude also to Toddy Doyle - Muckross Traditional Farms, The Aghadoe Heights Hotel and the Royal Hotel for their invaluable help in the smooth running of this All Star Saturday. O`DONOGHUE S/F V Cordal Sunday December 13 Fitzgerald Stadium 1pm LADIES U15 CO. S/F. Dr. Crokes 3-08 Rathmore 2-07 On Tuesday last Dr.Crokes defeated Rathmore in a very intense encounter. Despite Rathmores numerical advantage the never say die attitude of the Dr.Crokes girls was the highlight of the night. Rathmore raced into a 2-2 lead within the first eight minutes but after this the girls took up the challenge and played great football with team work and non-stop hard work to the fore. The team played well as a unit and while there were great individual performances it was a really emphatic performance by the team as a group. Some good opportunities were created and snapped up by the forwards - 3 goals by Michaele Bruton being just one highlight.
