Work internally on the Clubhouse extension will commence within the next few weeks. All these improvements are for the betterment of Dr. Crokes members presently and future generations but they do not come without finance. Pitches: With the season, beginning to kick off in earnest maximum use is being made of pitches with all squads back in training. As in previous years, this must occur in a structured form. To avoid disappointment and the problem of overbooking Development Officer Der Brosnan is insisting that this is the policy that will be strictly implemented. (Senior pitch closed until first Senior Co. League game on March 23 following some remedial work).

East Kerry U21 s/final: Dr. Crokes 4-16 Spa 2-06. we reached the final of the 2008 U21 championship with a comfortable win over neighbours Spa on Sun. last. In a wonderful display of forward play marshalled by Kieran O’Leary showing no ill effects of his previous evenings exploits against Tyrone and Brian Looney covering every blade of grass our forward line were explosive and looked dangerous when in possession. We led 2-2 to 0-01 after ten minutes goals coming from Ruairi Mangan & O’Leary. Points by Looney, Galvin, and Casey and Doolan stretched our lead and when the same player converted a penalty in the 22nd. minute it was game over. Half time score Dr. Crokes 3-08 Spa 0-05. Our opponents began the second half brightly and narrowed the gap with 2 goals the second coming in the 14th minute which proved to be their final score. Any chance of there being an upset was closed when Jamie Doolan found the net in the 18th minute. The game limped on to its inevitable conclusion with further points from Looney(2), Doolan(2), O’Leary (2). Team: Alan Kelly, John Payne, Michael Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, David O’Leary, Ian Howard, Gavin Tucker(0-01) Johnny Buckley, Daithi Casey (0-01), Brian Looney (0-05), Ruairi Mangan(0-01) Shane O’Neill, Denis Galvin (0-01, Kieran O’Leary (1-04) Jamie Doolan (2-04). Subs; Philip O’Connor, John Bartlett, Jonathan Clarke.

Coiste na Og: 2007 East Kerry U16 Final; Dr. Crokes 3-05 Kilcummin 2-12. We went down to a physically stronger Kilcummin side in the delayed 2007 U16 final. Played at Lewis Road on Sat. last and forced to lineout without the influential Kieran Ward who was injured we opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a wonderful Chris Brady goal after Bryan O`Shea found him with a tremendous cross-field pass. Our opponents levelled matters with three un-answered points. They continued to gain the majority of possession around the middle third of the field and led at half time 1-07 to 1-03. Keith O’Leary & Alex O`Sullivan (2) completed our scoring. During the third quarter we were under the cosh for long periods when our opponents ran into a seven point lead but it is to the credit of our lads that they never gave up and will ruefully regret the 5 missed goal chances which undoubtedly if one or more had been availed of a different result would be of no surprise. On the day Cillian Fitzgerald, Gordon Buckley & sub Chris Lawlor were the pick of our defenders while in the forwards Chris Brady, Keith O’Leary and Alex O`Sullivan were always a threat. Team: James Barry, Sean Coppinger, Eoin Clifton, Cillian Fitzgerald, Gordon Buckley Joseph Keogh, Conor O’Neill, Timmy O’Donoghue  P.J.Lawlor, Chris Brady, Keith 0`Leary, Robert Watson, Bryan O`Shea, Alex O`Sullivan, Cian O’Neill. Subs; Chris lawlor, Conor McGill.

On Friday night last, in the clubhouse, we held our medal presentation for all juveniles for year ending 2007.  Kerry manager Pat O’Shea presented the medals. A great evening was had by all with plenty of hot food, minerals and goodies galore, the turnout was huge and we would like to thank the events committee for all their assistance and a special thanks to Mike O'Shea of M.D O`Shea`s for his generosity on the night.

East Kerry U21 Championship: Dr. Crokes 6-14 Glenflesk 3-02. A very experienced Dr. Crokes side had a comfortable win over a gallant Glenflesk team in the opening round of the U21 championship. This game was over as a contest after 15mins when we led 4-04 to 0-01.goals coming from Kieran O’Leary (2), Denis Galvin and Shane O’Neill. Aided by a stiff breeze we dominated the midfield exchanges and with Johnny Buckley masterful in the air there was plenty ball going to the forwards. We led at the short whistle 5-10 to 0-02. to their credit our opponents did not throw in the towel and came out fighting in the second half and opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a S. Lacey goal and the same player followed with another in the 15th which sandwiched Shane O’Neill’s second. Team: Alan Kelly, John Payne, Michael Moloney, Tommy Ryan, Fionn Fitzgerald, Ian Howard, Gavin Tucker (1-02), Johnny Buckley(0-02), Daithi Casey (0-01), David O’Leary, Brian Looney, Ruairi Mangan, Denis Galvin (1-03), Kieran O’Leary (2-03), Shane O’Neill (2-02), Subs: Philip O’Connor(0-01), John Bartlett, Jonathan Clarke, Michael McMahon.
