30/01/08 In a wide ranging address to the 121st AGM held on Wed. Jan.23rd. Chairman Patrick O`Sullivan stated the highlights of the year was the winning of the O’Donoghue Cup, he said it was a tribute to the resilience and mental strength of both management and players to bounce back from the agonizing and controversial defeat in the All Ireland Club final. He congratulated Colm Cooper, Eoin Brosnan, Kieran Cremin, Kieran O’Leary and manager Pat O`Shea on winning the All Ireland. He had special praise for the Management of the Junior Squad who had made a tremendous effort during the year and were duly awarded with victory in the Molyneaux Cup. He congratulated the U21 team on winning the inaugural Co. Club competition and commiserated with the Minors who fell at the final hurdle in both co. league and championship. He stated that we contested the final of all competitions in East Kerry. He sympathized with members who suffered bereavements during the year. He thanked club members who work so tirelessly in the various sub-committees which makes the club tick over. Stepping down after 4 years at the helm many tributes were paid to Patrick with speakers highlighting the time, energy, commitment, vision and enthusiasm he brought to the post. In a detailed report produced in a booklet and sprinkled with photos Sec. Breda Cronin outlined all the year activities. In-coming Chairman Vince Casey who was unanimously elected stated that it was his aim to complete the development but would not be possible without a major fund raising drive the details will be outlined in the coming weeks. Joe Maye will again be in charge for the coming year. It was nice too see some new faces along with the old reliables.The meeting was most productive with a lot of topics discussed. As our juvenile numbers increase every year so must our care and attention as it is the kids who are the lifeline of the club. While the boys six to sixteen are well sorted we do need more help with the girls so we can build on the achievements and hard work already done. When the club began to develop their present facilities in the early nineties Dan took on the role of project manager and worked tirelessly and his expertise was invaluable in bringing to fruition the excellent playing facilities we have to-day.
