Captain Jamie Doolan was the major tormentor finishing with a personal tally of 3-03. This was a tremendous performance and augurs well for the season. All Ireland Club final: Dr. Crokes 1-09 Crossmaglen Rangers 1-09. seconds separated us from winning our 2nd All Ireland Club title in Croker on Sat. last. To say that victory was snatched would be an understatement. Disappointed = Yes,  Are We Down = No. how could one be after a tremendous display under so much adversity, it was the day when boys became men, young fellows took the responsibility and stepped up to the plate  and all became leaders after the twin loss of Eoin Brosnan & Brian McMahon, and the unfortunate loss of Andrew Kenneally who was unavailable for selection and took the game to Crossmaglen. In those final pulsating seconds we looked as if we might hold on to lead by the narrowest of margins until Oisin did his Crocodile Dundee impression(going on walkabout) and kicked the equalizer. All 18 players who saw action were heroes and it was a great hour to be a Crokes person in Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day, you did us proud. We salute you heroes all.

Supporters: You were magnificent, the color you brought to Croke Park was tremendous and the lads were delighted with the encouragement and vocal support. It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the support of members of other Kerry Clubs who traveled especially the large contingents from our East Kerry neighbors Gneevegulia and Glenflesk. Your support was greatly appreciated. The Club are very appreciated of the large volume of get well messages received. Thank you to everyone concerned.

All Ireland Club Final: St. Patrick’s clash with Crossmaglen Rangers has occupied the minds of management, players, officers, supporters in the last number of weeks. With the excitement at fever pitch amongst supporters the players have remained relatively calm and are hugely focused on the task involved in bringing home the Andy Merrigan Cup for the second time. Preparations have gone well and no stone has been left unturned. The officers would like to thank Irish Rail and everyone who intervened on our behalf especially Killarney Station Master Michael Leahy and his staff for their patience, help and courtesy in providing transport to carry the large number of supporters to the game. Here’s wishing the lads every success and trust that everyone’s efforts will be fruitful.

Colors: the town has began to take a distinctive look of Black & Amber over the last week. We would like to thank our main sponsors Uhlsport, schools, business premises, and private individuals who got into the spirit of the Community Challenge. Dr. Crokes Club would also like to acknowledge the input of the Town Council in the decoration, and to Joe O`Shea of O`Shea Signs for all his help.

Travel Update: Due to St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin there is limited availability on the Luas. Availability should not be a problem on the first 2 specials to Heuston. For passengers on the regular train arrival in Heuston coincides with the reduction of Luas transport. We urge supporters on this train to make alternative arrangements.

Birthday Wishes: to former Senior Player and present Minor Manager Vince Casey who was surprised with a 40th party last weekend in the Dromhall Hotel organized by his wife Bernadette. EKSL. Dr. Crokes 0-05  Rathmore 0-15. Fielding only 2 of the starting 15 that qualified for the All Ireland Club Final the previous weekend we easily succumbed to Rathmore in the first round of East Kerry Senior League. Playing with the elements in the opening half we were behind at the break 0-05 to 0-02. we had no answer in the second period to some tremendous point scoring by our opponents. Team: Andrew O’Connell, Tommy Ryan, James Cahillane, Kevin Smyth, Ian Howard, Brian O’Donoghue, John Payne, Kieran Brosnan, Batt Moriarty, Vince Cooper, David Moloney, Johnny O`Sullivan, Michael O’Donoghue, Nicholas Murphy, James Jones. Subs; Barra O’Connell, Michael O`Grady, Jamie Wrenn, Tomás Regan.

EKML. Dr. Crokes 1-18, Legion 4-05 We had a well deserved victory over Legion in the second round of the minor league. Held in Direen on Sat. last we played some brilliant football and a score line of 1-18 certainly did justice to the amount of chances created. Johnny Buckley dominated proceedings at midfield which ensured a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards of which T.J.Cronin and John Bartlett were impressive. It was great to see Philip O’Connor starting his first full game since last May. Philip had a very good game and was involved in many of the scores. Jonathan Clarke had a fine game at full back ably assisted by Fionn Fitzgerald and Timmy Dudley. Team: David Neeson, Michael McMahon, Jonathan Clarke, Chris Egan, Fionn Fitzgerald, David O’Leary, Timmy Dudley, Johnny Buckley, Daithi Casey, Donal Cronin, Jamie Doolan, Niall O’Connell, Philip O’Connor John Bartlett,T.J.Cronin.
