Minor Co. Final: West Kerry 0-14 Dr. Crokes 1-04. again we were beaten at the final hurdle in this Minor Co. Final at Austin Stack Park on Sun. last against a superior West Kerry side. Level at the break 1-02 to 0-5 we were still in contention but when midfielder Johnny Buckley suffered a heavy knock on the resumption we were always fighting an uphill battle. West Kerry who were physically stronger throughout the field controlled the major match ups and only David Neeson, Fionn Fitzgerald, Jonathan Clarke, and Daithi Casey played to anything near full potential for a disappointing Dr. Crokes side.

Coiste na Og; U12 Dr. Crokes 3-05 Kilcummin 1-05. on a wet and very windy evening in Kilcummin we qualified for this years final with a win over the locals.

We played with the advantage of the elements in the opening half and led at the break 2-04 to 0-01. the greasy ball made life difficult for all players. On the resumption our opponents tried relentlessly to close the deficit but our goalkeeper and back line stood firm and cleared their lines with regularity.

This was a well disciplined team performance and all the players can take great pride in the result which qualifies for the East Kerry final. This squad continues to improve and indeed will have to step it up again in the final, they have trained hard since last March and deserve great credit. At the time of writing the time and venue is not known for the final which is due to played on Sun. next Sept. 30th.

Club U21 Championship Q/F. Dr. Crokes 1-14 Laune Rangers 1-12. a goal in the dying seconds by Ruairi Mangan  gave us victory in this keenly contested game played in Killorglin on Wednesday last. This was a position in which we should never have allowed develop leading 0-13 to 0-08 mid way through the second half and in control of the game our forwards began to over elaborate and missed numerous chances to put the game away. Laune Rangers to their credit never gave up and scored 1-04 without reply in a ten minute spell to lead 1-12 to 0-13. it took a fine individual effort by outstanding corner back Fionn Fitzgerald to kick over a point to narrow the gap. With time almost up following a dreadful mistake in the rangers goalmouth Mangan was on hand to toe poke to the net to give us victory. We were best served on the night by Fionn Fitzgerald, Mike Moloney, Shane Doolan, David O’Leary, and Ruairi Mangan. Team: David Neeson, Fionn Fitzgerald(0-01), Michael Moloney, John Payne, Jamie Wren, Shane Doolan, Gavin Tucker, Luke Quinn, Johnny O`Sullivan, Daithi Casey(0-02), Ian Howard(0-01), Brian Looney(0-02), Jamie Doolan(0-02), Ruairi Mangan (1-03) David O’Leary.(0-02) Subs: Mike O`Grady, Jonathan Clarke.

Coiste na Og: U12 East Kerry Dr. Crokes 1-13  Legion 1-10. On Thurs. last we welcomed our neighbors Legion, having already played them twice in the co. league it was the first occasion we had home advantage.

We started brightly and led with a goal and a point, some defensive errors left our opponents back into the game and at the break we were two points in front. On the resumption we again upped the tempo to lead by four points. Again we left our opponents back into the game when we conceded a goal. From here to the finish we controlled proceedings and stretched our lead with some excellent free taking to leave us winning by 3 points. This victory was just reward for this hard working well disciplined team, each player can take great credit for the manner in which they played the game and indeed it was the team discipline which won over on the night.

A large vocal home support were present for this game our last home game at this level for the year and was very much appreciated by the players.

This was our second win and with one game left to play it is in our own hands. Our final game is this Wed. v Kilcummin 6.30pm.

All Ireland Final: congratulations to Kerry on winning their 35th All Ireland on Sunday last. It was a tremendous honor for our club to have so many involved in the set up. Manager Pat O`Shea had the team expertly prepared and has had a tremendous first season in charge and follows in the footsteps of clubman the late legendary Dr. Eamon O`Sullivan who coached the last of his successful outfits in 1962. Colm Cooper proved to all and sundry once again on Sunday that he is the finest footballing talent in this Millennium. His range of skills, scoring ability, unselfishness, and general overall play is a joy to watch and again was fully deserving of the Man of the Match Award, the second time he has received this accolade on All Ireland Final Day. A tremendous achievement for one of such tender years. Eoin Brosnan yet again had another wonderful game  whilst he did not score on this occasion his work rate was phenomenal and must have covered every blade of grass in Croke Park during the game. Kieran Cremin & Kieran O’Leary whilst they did not get game time are very valued members of the squad. So 4 more Celtic Crosses for Club Members to add to the collection. In the backroom club members masseur Harry O’Neill, team attendant Niall O’Callaghan and club chairman and co. board official Patrick O`Sullivan all had important roles in this victory. Well done to all.

Minor Co. final: On Sun. next Sept. 23rd @ 4pm in Austin Stacks Park we play this years final v West Kerry. Trainers Mike Buckley & Vince Casey have left no stone unturned in the preparations. Co. Minor S/final: Dr. Crokes 0-17 Austin Stacks 0-08.Congratulations to our minors who  on Sun last in the Fitzgerald Stadium qualified for our third minor co. final in a row with victory over Stacks. This was a tremendous team performance with each and everyone playing to their full capabilities. The foundation for this victory was at centre field where Daithi Casey gave a man of the match performance ably assisted by Johnny Buckley. Casey covered every blade of grass in the Park in the sweltering conditions. Our midfield dominance provided ample supply of ball to the forwards who were very dangerous and kicking 15points from play is a tremendous return. Ruairi Mangan expertly led the forward line and kicked 7points and always posed a threat to the Stacks defense. Jamie Doolan chipped in with 4points and though closely policed was always dangerous. Shane O’Neill on the forty won good possession and set up many of the scores. Our defense as a unit were tremendous with Fionn Fitzgerald , Jonathan Clarke, John Bartlett and Timmy Dudley particularly outstanding and snuffed out danger any time our opponents threatened. Goalkeeper David Neeson was once again magnificent and is developing into a tremendous shot stopper.  Team: David Neeson, P.J.Lawlor, Jonathan Clarke, Fionn Fitzgerald, Timmy Dudley, John Bartlett, Chris Egan, Johnny Buckley(0-01), Daithi Casey(0-03) Donal Cronin, Shane O’Neill (0-01) David O’Leary, Michael McMahon, Ruairi Mangan(0-07) Jamie Doolan (0-04). This was a big step up in performance from the previous game. Our next game has been brought forward to this Thurs. night 6.30pm v Legion.

East Kerry Minor Championship. Dr. Crokes 4-13  Firies 0-05. 3 first half goals ended this game as a contest, Buddy O’Leary was first to strike in the opening minute, Full forward Rory Mangan got into the act with a brace within a 10 minute spell which gave a comfortable half time lead.
