April 11th Final
Dr Crokes 0-09 Kilcummin 2-10
(March 21st)( Played in Lewis Road on Saturday March
21st) Playing against the wind we had a
very good first quarter and led at that stage by 0-3 to
0-2. Kilcummin dominated the second quarter, scoring 1-5
without reply, to go in at the interval, 1-7 to 0-3 in
front. Aided by the breeze we
started the second half very well, scoring three
unanswered points and reduced the deficit to four points
by the end of the 40th minute. In the next ten minutes
our opponents got back their half time lead, scoring
three points to our nil. We hit back with two points but
a Kilcummin goal in the 57th minute ended the game as a
contest. We had a consolation point in the last minute
of the match. Our best on the day were
James Cahillane, Fionn Fitzgerald, Eoin Brosnan, Daithi
Casey and Jamie Doolan. Dr Crokes

(Played Sun Mar 1st at Lewis Road)
In a game which we looked like winning at half time, we
subsequently went down by a point. Our opponents
deserved their win because of their good performance
against the wind in the second half. We had led at half
time by two points, thanks to two goals when playing
against the strong breeze. Glenflesk managed twelve
scores to our seven over the hour and took their points
better than us, even though many of them were from
frees. We had a chance to win the game at the death but
our penalty effort was well saved by the goalkeeper.
The teams were level after ten minutes, scoring two
points each.A Ruairi Mangan goal in the sixteenth minute
put us three points in front. This was followed by a
Glenflesk point and a goal for us by Gavin Tucker in the
eighteenth minute to put us ahead 2-2 to 0-3. Our
opponents had four points to our one in the last ten
minutes, leaving us two points ahead at the interval.
We would have expected to gain victory, with the breeze
at our back and a two point lead ,starting the second
half. Glenflesk had other ideas. Three points without
reply in the first ten minutes after the interval put
them a point in front. There were many misses in the
last twenty minutes. Both sides managed just two points.
Then came our chance of victory from the penalty spot in
the last minute, which was well saved by their
goalkeeper. Alan Kelly kept his goal
intact. We were best served in defence by Fionn
Fitzgerald, John Payne and Batt Moriarty. Ambrose
O'Donovan had a very good game at midfield. Best in
attack were Andrew Kennelly, James Fleming and Brian
Looney. Dr Crokes Best Player;
Ambrose O'Donovan. Team and
