One must respect Peter's
decision to retire but it is appropriate that we should
pay tribute to him for 14 years of outstanding service between
the posts for Dr. Crokes.
Safe, sure ,confident and brave
he never wanted to be beaten for any shot and he rarely was.
It is well recognized
throughout the county that you took your points when Peter was
in goal because he was almost impossible to beat.
Man for man he was the best
shot stopper I saw at all levels throughout the country.
He holds the record for representing
his county as senior goalkeeper in Gaelic football and in
soccer.
Is this a record ?
Perhaps some of our readers who
log on to this site can verify this.
How often did I see an umpire
reaching for the green flag.....only to draw back as Peter did
the impossible once more, an other clean sheet.
