U12 Co. League Final Dr Crokes 4. 11 Scartaglen 2. 10 Our U12 Girls were crowned county U12 champions on Oct. 19 following a 7 point win over a gallant Scartaglen team. Played in atrocious conditions under lights at Lewis Rd. the away team started the brighter notching up three unanswered points in the opening five minutes. The girls started to adapt to the conditions and put three points on the board to level matters. Scartaglen then struck two goals and rather than dip their heads the Crokes girls struck back with 3 goals coming from Sheodhna O Donoghue, Siobhan Burns and Lynne O Shea, we added four further points to leave the score 3.07 to 2.05 at half time. The second half was a very even affair with both defences coming out on top, a further goal from Sheodhna O Donoghue and four points from Annie Potts compared to 5 points for the away team saw the girls prevail to claim the much coveted U 12 title. Team captain Sheodhna O Donoghue accepted the cup on behalf of the team and thanked team trainer Paula for all her efforts in coaching them to their first title; she also thanked the supporters who braved the weather to cheer them on.
