U/21 Championship East Kerry Final

Dr Crócaigh 3-14    An Ráth Mhór 3-7

An amazing start to this very competitive game in Fitzgerald Stadium on the Bank Holiday Monday with three goals scored in as many minutes right at the start of the game.  With the wind blowing into their faces Rathmore got the first two playing into the scoreboard side goal.  Our lads didn’t panic though, and we were level by the 13th minute our corner forward Brian Looney getting both goals, and Colm Cooper our opening point after a one two with Andrew Kennelly.

After this we had the better of things for most of the game but Rathmore never gave up and with seven minutes of normal time remaining they were back to within two points 2-12 to 3-7.  A quick free by Colm Cooper to Pa Moloney produced our third goal to finally kill off any chance Rathmore had.  This was a great team performance with some memorable scores Ambrose O’Donovan scoring from outside the 45 in the 17th minute and Pa Maloney scoring from the side line after a great cross-field ball from Mike O’Grady.  At halftime we were 2-8 to 3-1, Michael Kelliher getting Rathmore’s third goal and he almost got another early in the second half.
