U21 County Championship

Fixture -- Dr Crokes  V  St Brendans on Thurs 3rd August at Lewis Road.

Dr Crokes  3-8  --------  St Brendans  3-14 (Played at Lewis Rd on Thurs August 3rd)

A well prepared St Brendan's team proved too good for us in this Quarter Final of the under 21 County Championship. Our opponents set the early pace and raced into a 1-2 lead in the first six minutes. In one of our sporadic raids of the first half Florence McCarthy goaled. St Brendans continued to dominate around mid field and built up a lead of 3-7 to 2-2 at half time.

We went on all out attack at the start of the second half and were rewarded as early as the 2nd minute when a penalty for a foul on Andrew Kennelly was clinically converted by Shane Doolan.Even though up against a better team our lads gave it their all and reduced the deficit to four points midway through the second half. St Brendans however were never in danger of defeat and ran out comfortable winners by six points.

St Brendans could go the whole way in this competition as they looked strong in all departments. The County Board must change the rule which excludes Minors from playing in this championship. We had to line out without five Kerry minors, one of whom played in last years Senior County final.
