East Kerry U21 final (Rathmore Sun16th Dec)
Dr. Crokes 1-12 v Rathmore 1-08
We added the under 21 trophy to the Senior and Minor ones won
earlier in the year with a hard fought victory by four points
over Rathmore. Unfortunately for our opponents they were on the
wrong end in all three competitions but judging by the players
they have at their disposal trophies will be coming to their
Club in the very near future. It was ironical that both sides
played their best football when facing the stiff breeze.
The teams exchanged points in the first few minutes but aided by
the elements our opponents added on the next two points to go
two points ahead after eight minutes. They however failed to
score for the next thirteen minutes, during which period we had
four points to go two points ahead. The teams exchanged two
points to leave us 0-7 to 0-5 ahead with a minute to go to half
time. Unbelievably both sides had goals before the interval and
both majors were outstanding efforts. Jamie Doolan had the
Crokes three pointer while Daniel O'Sullivan replied for
Rathmore to leave us two points ahead at the end of the thirty
minutes.
With the wind at our back we would have expected to pull away
from our opponents in the second half. This however was far from
what happened.. We had the first point after the restart but
Rathmore had our lead brought back to the minimum by the 38th
minute. There was no score for the next fourteen minutes. We
were guilty of some bad wides during that period. Our opponents
equalised in the 53rd minute and a grand stand finish looked
likely. I think however at this stage Rathmore had given their
all as we were on the offensive during this last seven minutes
and added on four points without reply for a 1-12 to 1-8
victory.

Semi Final -------- Dr
Crokes 3-15 -------- Kilcummin
1-2.(Played in Lewis Road on Sat 8th Dec)
We ran out easy winners over Kilcummin on Saturday last
in the semi final of the competition. Our previous game
for this trophy was on the 4th of February. The Board
found it impossible to fix games, many of which were put
off during the year for different reasons. We ourselves
have been blamed for not being available to play at
certain times but no club in the District Board would
play a game without a County player as was the case with
us. This anyway is covered in the rules of the
competition.
With the aid of the breeze we launched early
attacks and had four unanswered points in the first
seven minutes. Even though still on the offensive we had
a very unproductive period in the next ten minutes,
failing to register a score. We then had three points in
as many minutes and finished the half with another
1-2, the goal fired home by Jamie Doolan after a good
passing movement involving several players. This gave us
a half time lead of 1-9 to no score.
With the elements now in their favour Kilcummin
started the second half in good style with a goal and a
point without reply. They however only managed one more
point during the rest of the half. During this period we
added on 2-5 to our half time score, the highlights of
which were goals in the 44th and 59th minute. This left
us winners at the end on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-2.
