U12 Girls

After three rounds of the preliminary competition, the clubs U 12 girls opened their account in Div 5 of the county league with a very tough assignment to Corcna  Dhuibhne in Lispole. It was the first time that the team were able to line out with a full complement of players so they needed to be at their very best against the club amalgamation from West Kerry. Showing no signs of nerves the girls hit the ground running and it wasn't long before they had the opening score of the game, a goal after great team play. Norah McGlynn, playing at midfield, sent the ball wing forward Clodagh Finn, who still had a lot of work to do before passing on to her full forward, Sarah Cooper who in turn gave the goalkeeper no chance to make a save. The remaining of the half was a very even affair, with both teams matching each other for scores. It was only for the great display of defending from the O'Connor sisters Keela and Miren and cornerback Ellie Galvin that kept their opponents from taking the lead, and with Amelie Hussey and Ellen Cudden playing so well, it meant that the teams finished on even terms ;Dr.  Crokes 5-04  Corca Dhuibhne 3-10. The girls second game in the competition was a home fixture v Milltown/Listry B, and with a few of our regulars not available it was our Saturday academy girls who stepped in to save the day. Abbie and Charlie Lockett lined out at nos. 5 and 7 for their very first game at U 12s, and between them wearing no. 6 stood Aoileann Ní Dhubháin. The three girls made a formidable half-back combination. Isabella Cremin (following in her grandad Der footsteps) lined out at corner forward, and Bethany Byrne on the other corner and with the help of full forward Síofra Randles, the team were on the front foot throughout.Clodagh McGorrian and Ella Bartlett gave a power display at centre field and were supported at every turn by the half forward line of Jessica O'Connor, Alanna O'Brien and Sabra Hickey who worked very hard throughout. On the night though, it was the heroic display of our star goalie Natalia Mai and the full back line of Sinead Byrne, Jocelyn Hickey and another of our academy girls Annie Brosnan who were instrumental in the team being victorious on the night on the scoreline; Dr.Crokes 3-06 Milltown/ListryB 3-04

U14 Girls

Our U14 girls played the group stages of Feile Peil nÓg (for Divisions 3/4/5) in Currans on Easter Saturday evening.  They won their 3 games against Laune Rangers, Corca Dhuibhne & Listowel Emmetts & qualified for the Semi-final which was played last Monday evening April 29th v Kilcummin.  Kilcummin started well but once our girls settled down we gained control of the game and ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-3.  Next up was the Final versus Killarney Legion.  The first half was a tight affair with both defences getting the upper hand, the score at half time was just 2 points a piece.  However, our girls threw off the shackles in the second half and aided by the breeze for this half, finished very comfortable winners on a score line of 2-7 to 2 points. The girls will now join Southern Gaels (Div 1) as Kerry representatives in the Feile Peil na nOg National Competition in Galway on the weekend of June 28/29.  Congratulations to a hard-working, passionate group of girls and management.Laura O'Shea (Captain), Natalia Mai, Teagan O'Sullivan, Ella Barrett, Saoirse O'Sullivan, Sadhbh Stack, Sinead Oliver, Amy Clifford, Katie McCarthy, Ali O'Donoghue, Keira Geaney, Natalia Iglieska, Siofra Randles, Grainne Byrne, Jocelyn Hickey, Alicia Keane, Clodagh McGorrian, Ella Bartlett, Cara O'Sullivan, Pia Hickey, Leah McMahon. Under 14 Football
The Crokes U14 boys had a busy few days, with two County League games in three days. On Monday, they made the trip North Kerry to take on Listowel Emmet's. The home side started the brighter and led at half time. The second half was full of end-to-end action with Crokes reducing the deficit to just two points at one stage before losing out 5-11 to 5-6 in the end. On Wednesday, Crokes defeated local rivals Spa in the final round of the group stage on a scoreline of 5-21 to 1-10 and booked a place in the semi-final.

Under 16

Following a lacklustre performance against Fossa and a well-earned win over Firies, our u16s faced Glenflesk in the fourth round of the East Kerry League last Tuesday evening in Glenflesk at 7 pm.

This much-anticipated game very much lived up to expectations. Both teams were evenly matched and on a fine May evening for football gave the gathered spectators a close, hard-fought and entertaining game.

The Crokes playing with the aid of the wind quickly raced into the lead notching up a score of 1-2 without reply. Glenflesk under pressure began to settle into the game and converted some well-worked scores. The first half proved to be very entertaining and hard fought with the Crokes asserting their dominance from time to time and as the half time whistle blew, there was little separating the teams: The Crokes marginally ahead on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-6.

The second half began at a blistering pace resulting in a well-taken goal by the Crokes directly from the throw-in. This half was not for the faint-hearted as the Crokes backs particularly the full-back line withheld sustained Glenflesk pressure. A succession of well-taken scores was swapped between both teams and at times individual contests boiled over on the pitch. Overall, this was a great team performance by our U16s and as the final whistle blew we finished with a well-deserved win on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 1-10.

Well done lads
