Club Notes Week 27 2023   10/07/2023

SFL Div.1 Dr. Crokes 0-12 Miltown/Castlemaine 1-09. In a game where two sides couldn’t be separated we were crowned Kerry Senior Football League champions. It was the home side who started the livelier, kicking the first 3 points of the game from play. It took until the 7th minute for Liam Randles to open our scoring and we proceeded to kick the following two points. Much of the first half was point for point with the game moving from end to end. We were happy to go in leading 0-06 to 0-05 at halftime. The second half was the exact same as the first with each side clocking up point after point. Successive points from Daithi Casey, Mikey Casey and Kieran O’Leary gave us a 2 point lead with only 5 minutes left to go. Miltowns Sean Hogan was fouled inside the small square and the referee signed to the penalty spot. Bryan O’Shea was unlucky not to clear the ball having got a touch of the ball however, Eanna O’Connor converted this giving the home side a 1 point lead going in to the dying minutes of the game. Billy Courtney kicked a fantastic long range point and the games final score, finishing the game level pegging and a point for both sides. Well done to all 44 played who played with the Div. 1 team this season, as well as the management and backroom team.

LGFA Senior Club League Dr. Crokes 3:12 Rathmore 3:07. Our senior ladies travelled to Rathbeg on Monday evening. Our girls started slowly, and with Rathmore performing well, they held a 6 point lead at half time. A hugely impressive second half performance turned the came completely around and our ladies finished comfortably with a 5 point victory.

U15B Crokes 1-08 Listry 1-06. Our U15 team had a great victory away in Listry. It was a hard fought victory and both teams battled to the very end.

LGFA U14 Dr. Crokes 3:08 Laune Rangers 2:06. Our U14 welcomed Laune Rangers to Lewis Road. The girls were always in control of the game, but were unlucky in front of goal and actually trailed by 2 at half time. In the second half, we did start to find our groove in the forwards and scored the goals our play merited. Another good win, we are 2 from 2 in the County League.

LGFA U12 Our amber team travelled to Finuge on Friday night to take on the home team. We had a great game and even though we kicked 2:10 we still came off second best to a strong Finuge team. We are delighted with the group who are making huge strides.
